Quizzify 1, Texas Health 0

Updated: Jun 25

Most of the time when an employee of a Quizzify customer writes in our ER Consent, the hospital accepts it, saving thousands on allowed charges. These days, the Quizzify AutoConsent means the employee doesn't even have to write anything in. We get the hospitals to consent in advance to our 2x Medicare offer.

Rarely, a hospital will attempt to fight back when an employee uses the Consent. And that's when the fun begins. In the immortal words of the great philosopher Sherlock Holmes: "Come, Watson. The game is afoot."

Consider Texas Health Resources, a 29-hospital system in – get ready – Texas. Texas has the 6th-highest ER costs in the country. This visit was no exception, where the allowed amount for a Level 4 exceeded $5000.

Note that, while this Quizzify customer does not yet use the "hands-free" AutoConsent where the patient need not do anything except show their insurance card with our QR code on it, their employees have been well-trained to ask for a printout and then write in the Quizify consent. (Note to Quizzify customers: ask us for our newest Consent, pared to 21 words...but really you should ask us for the AutoConsent. More prep work and, yes, we charge, but it takes the burden off employees to write anything down, and pays for itself in about 5 ER visits.)

This is where the fun begins

This got kicked up the chain to Quizzify. We politely pointed out the Consent and were told that it couldn't be adjusted.

Then, to defend themselves, they said they only promised that their business office would review the Consent.

We see this excuse all the time and have a clever and effective albeit somewhat sarcastic response...

And then to the smashing conclusion...

Yes, a $5077 bill was reduced to $500. Not including the many total writeoffs we get, this was our second-best-ever percentage reduction. We usually get about 50%.
